The Corals is an Australian digital art project featuring unique coral reef NFTs. These colourful and life-like corals will be your window on to the Great Barrier Reef, but they will also do so much more.
Our first aim is to increase awareness of the danger facing the Great Barrier Reef, and to raise funds to support the preservation and conservation of the reef. We want to raise one million dollars for The Great Barrier Reef Foundation who are actively researching, restoring and protecting the reef.
Our goal is also to build an active community of people who care about the reef, other environmental issues and taking meaningful action on climate change. It will be fun, informative, and pro-active.
Importantly we want our owners to see the real difference they are making to the reef, and provide value back to those who hold on to their Corals in unique and exciting ways.
Finally, we see this as the beginning of many great Australian NFT projects, and we will be looking to support, promote and collaborate with as many talented Australian artists as possible.
Why is ‘The Corals’ important?
I am a firm believer in doing something yourself first before you teach others. I decided very early in 2021 to create my own NFT project in order to equip myself with the knowledge I needed to set my future artists up for success. I have always been taught to give back and decided to utilise the NFT space to revolutionise how we fundraise for charity , NFP and NGO’s. I am passionate about the ocean and its corals. I realised that the Great Barrier Reef and its corals were in danger . I also believed it was my responsibility to do whatever I could to affect change in my little corner of North Queensland .
The Corals NFT project was born .
I knew that it was not going to be easy attempting to prick the conscience of the world to care for the Great Barrier Reef , even though it is one of the seven natural wonders of the world . I knew that to make people feel , they had to see the corals . In order to see the corals I needed talented creatives of different disciplines to showcase their interpretation of the corals of the Great Barrier Reef in their NFT art collection
Each collection would be called a Wave . Each Wave would have a different artist. There are seven waves in the complete project reflecting the seven regions that make up the Great Barrier Reef . I could create a NFT project to fundraise for the GBRF utilising a blend of technology and art that would raise funds in perpetuity for our Great Barrier Reef and launch new creatives into the Web3 and Nft space.
We have dropped Wave 1 and currently preparing Wave 2 of the Corals NFT Project . I have navigated the challenges of dropping a successful project in the Web 3 space , regardless of markets and opinions. I stayed focused on the project and despite adversity , I delivered .
